CO280 expands projects into Canada with an 800,000 metric ton pre-FEED contract
CO280 Solutions has awarded Pre-FEED contracts with a pulp & paper mill partner in Canada for a carbon dioxide removal project designed to capture over 800,000 tonnes per year of biogenic CO₂, starting in 2029.
The project will integrate commercial liquid amine carbon capture technology into existing mill operations, building on a successful pre-feasibility study completed in 2024.
In parallel with engineering, CO280 is advancing efforts to market and sell CDR credits, engage local communities, and secure project financing.
This marks their entrance into Canada, with their first project being with PCA in Louisiana. Canada is home to a robust forestry industry with over 40 mills in operations.
Williams Echo Springs CarbonSAFE Completes Deep Characterization Well for Carbon Storage
Williams and the University of Wyoming completed a deep characterization well (19,098 feet) in the Echo Springs area of south-central Wyoming to evaluate subsurface saline formations for CO₂ storage under DOE’s CarbonSAFE Phase II
The test well will gather geological, temperature, pressure, and rock property data to build models predicting if CO₂ can be safely injected, stored, and contained in those deep formations
The well utilized an existing stratigraphic well drilled in 2023 to reduce costs and expedite drilling
If successful, the Class II well can be used to sequester CO2 from William’s adjacent Echo Springs gas plant.
